1927 Gibson H-4 serial number 81656, FON #8632

Redburst finish, adjustable bridge and truss rod; three-piece neck (mahogany with ebony center spline); red spruce top; sugar maple back and sides; dot fingerboard joins the body at 12th fret; pearwood peg head overlay painted black with The Gibson and single flowerpot inlaid in pearl. It is all original including case, tuners, hardware, bridge, etc. There is a typical finish crack at the curl, but this does not go through into the wood. No cracks into the wood anywhere. The finish shows typical aging (cracks and flaking) associated with this year and model. There is very light playwear on back of neck in first position and a few minor pick scratches around the sound hole. This is a wonderful-sounding instrument, full and resonant as are most of these H-4, but perhaps a bit of lovely crispness indicative of the mandolin family instruments of the later years of the ‘20s. I am asking $8250, shipping included.
