Gibson model F-4 mandolin SN 76599, FON 11982, with original case. This wonderful Loar era oval hole artist mandolin was completed by Gibson toward the end of 1923. The condition is absolutely remarkable, a stunning example of an instrument that has been around for 95 years and today plays and sounds better than ever.
Features on Gibson F-4 #76599 include carved select spruce top and beautifully flamed and book-matched maple back and side; 1-pc slab-cut maple neck (consistent with Loar F-5); peghead inlays of mother-of-pearl “The Gibson” and abalone flower-pot; white binding on top, back, peghead and fingerboard; arrow-end tuners; nickel-plated hardware; adjustable, compensated bridge; adjustable truss rod in neck; original case with green lining also in excellent condition. This instrument is factory original except for replaced bridge saddle and professional refret. Playability is optimal.
