1967 Gibson A5 892986
Beautiful cherry-red Gibson oval hole mandolin from the 1960s in excellent original condition. In 1957, Gibson reentered a sluggish mandolin market with an updated version of the oval hole design of the ‘teens. One very special custom model A5 wound up in the hands of Jethro Burns, whose sparkling jazzy notes turned heads and dropped jaws of mandolin players all over the world. After hearing him play, many of us ran straight out and bought a new A-5. Now, this is your chance to step back in time and check out the unique sound for yourself! Features include bound oval sound hole, Florentine symmetrical two point body (double-cut-away in guitar terminology), maple back and sides, laminated bevel edged pickguard, tailpiece cover with Gibson logo, bound Rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers, scroll peghead shape, Crown and “Gibson” logo inlay in pearl, Cherry Sunburst finish. $2750 includes original rectangular case and free shipping in continental US.
