Over half a century of experience goes into each hand-crafted instrument that comes form Mr. Wood’s shop. In fact everything on this mandolin is house made except the tuning gears. Features include carved red spruce top; curly maple back and sides; 2 f-shaped sound holes; ebony fingerboard; mother-of-pearl and abalone inlays of Mr. Wood’s original artistic design; ivoroid bindings; dark sunburst with matt finish; scale length: 13 3/4; width of fingerboard at nut: 1 1/16; width of fingerboard at 12th fret: 1 1/2; compound radius ebony fingerboard with side dot position markers. RW F-5 #11217 was used as a demonstrator mandolin and has that broken-in woody sound that Randy Wood mandolins are known for: strong voice in all positions, plenty of volume and response.
