1934 Kel Kroyden by Gibson Tenor Banjo # 1050-5

1934 Kel Kroyden by Gibson original 4-string tenor banjo # 1050-5.  Kel Kroyden was the name chosen for the first budget brand marketed by Gibson and this is one of the first banjos from that catalog. For all intents and purposes, the drum of this banjo is identical to the TB-11, the “fancy banjo” that was so popular in the depression era and has had a resurgence of interest today. Features include maple resonator covered with pearloid; pearloid fingerboard and peghead overlay; 4-petal flower stenciled on resonator and peghead; nickel plated hardware; blue finish. One of the only features sacrificed to bring this banjo to the market at a reduced price is that unlike the TB-11, the neck has no truss rod. However, this neck has optimal relief and no truss rod is needed for playability. The neck shows considerable playwear, but overall the banjo is intact, structurally sound and all original. All in all, a terrific sounding tenor banjo as she sits, ready to give another 90 years of music to the happy tenor player, or a great candidate for a custom neck for the 5-string lover that digs the bling!

Otherwise, all original including tuners Geib & Schafer case. For sale at $2450, includes free UPS shipping in the continental US and shared cost to many overseas destinations.
